Electronic/digital material licenses are legally binding agreements. This session will hit the high points of the relevant contract and copyright law, and discuss a license negotiation check-list developed by the UBC Library.

Michal is legal counsel at the University of British Columbia. Michal’s legal practice includes advising on a range of copyright law issues, negotiating contracts for the UBC Library and UBC Information Technology (amongst others), and giving legal and practical advice on anything and everything university-related. Michal is also a member of the Board of Governors of Langara College.

Sheldon is Interim Associate University Librarian, Collection Development at the University of British Columbia. Previously the E-Resources and Acquisitions Librarian at UBC.
